Sébastien Vézina, Guillaume Synnott and Guillaume Lavoie represent Quebec Silicon in signing an agreement with the Government of Quebec
Sébastien Vézina, Guillaume Synnott and Guillaume Lavoie, members of the Business Law Group, represented Quebec Silicon Limited Partnership in the signing of an agreement with the Government of Quebec that was announced on January 17, 2017. The agreement provides for shared risk energy pricing for Quebec Silicon in consideration of a commitment to operate its silicon production plant at maximum capacity and an investment of a minimum of $12.6 million over the next four years. This will enable Quebec Silicon to preserve 175 jobs in the Centre-du-Québec region. For more information, click here to read the Government of Quebec news release relating to this announcement.

Pierre Marc Johnson speaks at Université de Montréal’s Rendez-vous juridiques
Pierre Marc Johnson, counsel and lead negotiator for the Quebec government on the Comprehensive and Economic Trade Agreement (CETA), spoke about free trade agreements during the Rendez-vous juridiques organized by the Université de Montréal Faculty of Law. He discussed how Canada should position itself in order to benefit from the new free trade agreements and the new US trade policy. Véronique Morin discusses the various considerations that arise during a psychological harassment investigation
Véronique Morin, a lawyer with the Labour and Employment Law Group and a certified mediator,authored an article appearing in the January 24, 2017 issue of Le coin de l’expert, published by the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (CRHA). The article entitled Comment préparer la voie à une enquête en matière de harcèlement psychologique highlights the steps that should be taken to ensure that a complaint is thoroughly and properly handled. More particularly it examines who to assign to investigate and what measures should be imposed on the parties concerned and whether or not psychological harassment is proven. Étienne Brassard, and Mylène Vallières, both members of Lavery’s Business Law Group spoke about crowdfunding to Université de Montreal’s Faculty of law on January 11th. This initiative was coordinated by Michaëlle Guilbault, a student with the firm. The event offered Faculty students an opportunity to learn more about the different aspects of this emerging method of financing.
