  1. Six new members join Lavery’s ranks

    Chanel CalabroChanel is a member of the Business Law group. She works primarily in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate law."Lavery is at the centre of developing companies in Quebec. It is for me an excellent opportunity to work with inspiring professionals in a work environment that encourages development and initiative. I am very enthusiastic about working in a practice that offers me the opportunity to use my past experiences to provide added value to our clients." Simon Gagné-CarrierSimon is joining our Labour and Employment Law group. He also practices in Municipal Law. He joined the Lavery team as a student in 2022. He completed his bachelor's degree in civil law and a master's degree in business administration at the Université de Sherbrooke. "The team of professionals who make up the firm and who have guided me are committed to strong and important values such as mentoring, professional development and collaboration between peers. It is an ideal environment for a young lawyer." Ghiles HelliGhiles is joining our Business Law Group. He is a member of our mergers and acquisitions team. He assists our partners in advising clients on the legal impacts of the implementation of new technologies and on cybersecurity. "I chose to do my internship at Lavery because of their expertise in technology law and in mergers and acquisitions law, my two legal passions. It is also a great opportunity for me to pursue my professional development with mentoring that is second to none." Kabrina PéronKabrina is joining our Labor and Employment Law group. She joined the Lavery team as a student in the winter of 2021. Daphné Pomerleau-NormandinDaphné is a member of the Litigation and Conflict Resolution group and focuses her practice on commercial and civil litigation.   4. René Branchaud named Lawyer of the Year in Natural Resources Law by The Best Lawyers in Canada 2023

  8. Myriam Brixi named one of Canada’s Top 100 Women in Litigation 2022 by Benchmark Litigation

    Lavery is pleased to announce that Benchmark Litigation has recognized Myriam Brixi in its 2022 edition of Canada’s Top 100 Women in Litigation. The prestigious Benchmark Litigation recognizes the top 100 women lawyers in Canada who have distinguished themselves by participating in some of the most significant litigation cases in recent years and by their reputation among their peers and clients. Myriam Brixi is a member of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group. She focuses her practice primarily in the areas of class actions, product liability, consumer law, franchising and distribution and insurance law. She has participated in complex class actions raising important legal issues, including a wide range of multi-jurisdictional class actions. Ms. Brixi is also actively involved in her community. In particular, she was appointed by the Barreau du Québec to sit on the Access to Justice Committee.   9. Lavery assists Agile MV Inc. in the sale of all of its shares to Resonetics

    On June 13, 2022, Resonetics announced the purchase of the entirety of the shares of Agile MV, a Montréal-based medical device design and development contract manufacturing company. The transaction was motivated by the quality of expertise that Agile MV's team of engineers, scientists, and technicians possess throughout the entire production cycle, from initial concept consolidation to mass production. Our partner, Audrey Gibeault, had the privilege of representing the company in this major transaction that involved complex tax planning, among other things. In business law, this transaction was led by our partner Étienne Brassard. Ms. Gibeault and Mr. Étienne Brassard were mainly assisted in this transaction by Gabrielle Ahélo. They were assisted by Luc Pariseau, Sonia Guérin, France Camille De Mers, Brittany Carson, Éric Gélinas, André Vautour, Michael Pageau, Maxime Chabot and Charles-Hugo Gagné. —Agile MV is a Quebec-based medical device design and development contract manufacturing company. As well as a senior notary, Julie Doan, in the Montreal office. Anne-Philippe Pelchat Anne-Philippe is joining the Business Law group. She supports our partners and experienced members mainly in corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions of private companies and the drafting of joint venture agreements.
