Profile

Associate

Alioune is a member of our Litigation and Dispute Resolution group.

While pursuing his law degree, Alioune became involved as a legal professional with the Clinique juridique itinérante, a non-profit organization that provides legal information to homeless, marginalized and vulnerable individuals.

He also worked as a research assistant for Professor Colleen Sheppard at McGill's Faculty of Law, focusing on issues of constitutional law and systemic discrimination.

Prior to his legal training, Alioune completed preparatory courses in the humanities before enrolling at the Institut d'études politiques in Bordeaux (also called Sciences Po Bordeaux), where he studied international relations and participated in exchange programs at Université Laval and the University of California, Berkeley. During his early professional career, Alioune worked mainly on international justice issues. In particular, he led the observation of the trial of former Chadian president Hissène Habré, who was tried by an ad hoc tribunal in Senegal from 2015 to 2017.

Since joining the firm as a student, Alioune has been involved in major civil, constitutional and administrative cases before various jurisdictions, including the Federal Court and the Court of Appeal of Quebec.
