BIOGRAPHY

Partner
Yvan Biron is a member of the Environmental Energy and Natural Resources Group. Over the past few years, he acquired a vast experience in investigations, inspections, environmental authorizations and negotiations with the various agencies responsible for environmental protection, resource development and land management.

Mr. Biron serves all the needs of his clients from advising through litigation: more specifically, he manages the environmental authorization process (including impact assessment and review procedures); he is also called upon to negotiate distinctive rights such as hydro-electric power operations or electrical transmission line servitudes. He pleads before courts on a regular basis, on issues ranging from land use planning to the defense of criminal charges in environmental cases.

His clients include municipalities, environmental services companies (e.g. waste transportation and disposal), ore mining and processing industries as well as businesses in the energy sector. Mr. Biron's practice is also in the forefront in water and forestry management.

From 1989 to 1991 he lectured at the Université du Québec à Montréal on Introduction to Environmental law. He has also collaborated with the Continuing Education Faculty at Université de Montréal on corporate training programs.

Mr. Biron is recognized in the 2010 directory The Best Lawyers in Canada in the field of Environmental Law.
