BIOGRAPHY

Partner
During his past legal career, Simon Lemay held several positions which prepared him effectively for the position he now holds as coordinator of the intellectual property department. Through the education and training Mr. Lemay acquired in completing two bachelor’s degrees, he was equally suited to the employment he previously held with a firm in the food industry, and now, as legal counsel to companies in the same industry.

In 1995, Mr. Lemay became division head for brand integrity at Culinar Inc. He made his mark by setting up an in-house trademark department and, in 1997, was promoted to director of legal services. As such, he was given the responsibility for managing and protecting the company’s intellectual property. In 1998, he joined a law firm as a lawyer and trademark agent. After joining Lavery in 1999, he continued with a similar practice and functions.

Mr. Lemay is regularly asked to give presentations and seminars on intellectual property law. In addition, based on his experience and training in the agri-food industry, he also advises companies in this field on food quality management and food security and safety issues.
