Michel Gélinas is a member of our Labour and Employment Law Group.

He began his career practicing in civil law, particularly in the areas of civil liability and employment, thus developing a solid experience before civil courts. He later chose to devote his practice exclusively to labour and employment law for clients in Québec and across Canada.

Over the years, Mr. Gélinas has become a seasoned expert in matters pertaining to human rights and freedom charters, union certification and grievance arbitration, both under the Quebec and Canada Labour Codes, serving private and public corporations as well as parapublic organizations. He regularly negotiates collective agreement renewals on behalf of employers.

Recognized for being a practical person with a flair for strategy, his advice is often sought by executives of national and international corporations on issues pertaining to reorganization, outsourcing and mergers.

He is also regularly appointed by employers to provide them some advice with respect to establishing good managing and communication strategies in view of maintaining a non unionized environment and, if need be, to assist them in conducting communications with employees during union campaigns.

Mr. Gélinas regularly lectures for the firm's clients as well as employers'. He is listed in The Canadian Legal LEXPERT® Directory in the field of labour law and in the 2012 edition of Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading practitioner in the field of Labour and Employment Law.
